Insigne remains major doubt for Barça clash
Insigne has a groin problem but will travel to Catalonia
Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne will travel with his teammates to Catalonia but remains a major injury doubt for the Gli Azzurri ahead of Saturday’s Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Barcelona.
According to Italian media Insigne underwent an MRI that revealead some inflammation in his adductor muscle picked up in the Serie A finale against Lazio on Saturday. Insigne was substituted late in the second half and looked quite dejected, and there was significant fear he was done for the season and wouldn’t make the trip to Camp Nou.
But it appears as though Insigne will at least train with his teammates in the final session before the match, and that’s when the decision will be made regarding his status for Saturday. Simply put, Insigne is Napoli’s best player and emotional leader, and his absence would be a giant blow for his team’s hopes of upsetting the Blaugrana.
