Semedo close to signing new contract at Barcelona
The right-back will extend until 2025
Nelson Semedo is reportedly very close to signing a new deal at Barcelona that will run until 2025.
Mundo Deportivo are reporting that talks between the club and the Portugal international over a new deal are “advanced” and the 26-year-old now looks set to stay.
Speculation over Semedo’s future has been around for a while now. He’s been linked with Juventus, Inter and Manchester City in recent months but could net an improved deal instead.
MD reckon Semedo saw his departure as “inevitable” at one point, but the arrival of Quique Setien in January appears to have helped his cause.
Barca will improve his salary and raise his buyout clause which currently stands at €100 million and is one of the lowest in the current squad.
Semedo’s renewal is one of four Barca are currently working on. They are also hoping to seal new deals for Lionel Messi, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Ansu Fati.
