Rudi Garcia says “there is no offer” for Depay

The saga continues

Memphis Depay continues to dominate the Barcelona rumor mill as the Blaugrana are heavily linked with the 26-year-old forward, who is back at his current club Lyon following a couple of weeks with the Dutch national team.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Wednesday that Depay and Barça have agreed on personal terms — a significant step in any negotiation.

But as Romano himself says, there is still an agreement to be reached between Barça and Lyon, and OL coach Rudi Garcia addressed the topic in a press conference:

“We do not know [about his future]. He is good, he played with his national team, where he had a very good first game. He needs to play, that’s good. We will see what we can do with him on Friday, there is no reason why he’s not in the group, unless he leaves by then.

“I have no news in that regard. I think Juninho has been clear, the president too, there is no offer for the moment.”

Lyon face Bordeaux in a Ligue 1 match on Friday and it is still unclear whether or not Depay will be named in the squad. With two days to go until that match, talks between Barça and Lyon could advance quickly and Memphis won’t be available to play. Or maybe this will be a bit of a soap opera. We’ll see.
