“100x100 Tito” will premiere this month

A documentary cataloging the life of Tito Vilanova, the former Barcelona manager who had to step down due to a bout with cancer that ultimately took his life, will be released soon.

The trailer for “100x100 Tito” has also been released online, which you can watch here.

Vilanova was a Barcelona B player in the late 80s and would become a first division player for other clubs throughout the 90s. As a manager, he was Pep Guardiola’s assistant, first at Barcelona B, and then with the senior team. He was second-in-command when Barcelona won the sextuple and won the UEFA Champions League again in 2011. He took over as first team manager the next season, where he tied the Liga points record (100) in a title-winning season. He was unable to manage the team every game, however, as he was fighting throat cancer. He was set to return for a second season as manager after his cancer went into remission, but sadly, it came back, and he was forced to resign. He died the next year.

Interviews featured include: Lionel Messi, Pedro Rodríguez, Cesc Fàbregas, Jordi Roura, Xavi Hernández, Sergio Busquets, Gerard Piqué, and Thierry Henry.

The documentary will be streamed over BarçaTV+ and will be available after premiering at a local film festival that runs between the 24th and 29th of this month.
