Miralem Pjanic and Ousmane Dembele both missed

Ronald Koeman was left frustrated by his team’s penalty misses against Cornella in the Copa del Rey on Thursday.

The Catalan giants missed two penalties in the 90 minutes. Miralem Pjanic saw an effort saved in the first half and Ousmane Dembele missed in the second.

Barca went on to win the game in extra-time thanks to goals from Ousmane Dembele and Martin Braithwaite, but Koeman was not too happy after the final whistle.

“We have to win the game earlier. We have to be more efficient. I don’t understand how with the players we have we can’t score (penalties), maybe it’s fear, I don’t know. But you can’t miss two penalties as Barcelona players, that’s not serious.”

“And there is not so much pressure to take penalties because of no atmosphere, no pressure from fans. We need cool heads and to score. Missing penalties is part of the job but we can’t accept missing two in a game like today.”

It was a tough night for Barca but they just did enough to squeeze past Cornella. The draw for the last 16 will be made on Friday.
