Copa del Rey: How will Barca line up against Granada?
It’s quarter-final time!
Barcelona hit the road again on Wednesday as the team travel to Granada in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey.
Ronald Koeman’s side are on a good run of form and will need no reminding they won 4-0 at Los Carmenes in La Liga at the start of the year.
Sergio Busquets is back from suspension for this one, while Sergi Roberto could make his first start since November after returning from injury against Athletic.
Let’s look at who might feature:
Defense
Koeman has said he doesn’t have a cup keeper but Neto has started both Copa del Rey games so far and it’s likely he’ll come in again at Granada.
Roberto made his return as a substitute against Athletic but could start at right-back, although Sergino Dest is also an option after returning to training.
Samuel Umtiti has impressed recently but is likely to make way in central defense for Clement Lenglet who will partner Ronald Araujo in the heart of the backline.
Junior Firpo should get another chance at left-back in order to give Jordi Alba a breather.
Midfield
Busquets served a one-match suspension against Athletic but looks set to return to the starting XI, while Miralem Pjanic could continue if Frenkie de Jong needs a break.
Riqui Puig has started Barca’s last two Copa del Rey matches and will be hoping to get the nod again against Granada.
Attack
Koeman is likely to play a strong team which means Lionel Messi may captain the side but there could be other changes to his attack to keep things fresh.
Francisco Trincao looks a good bet to replace Ousmane Dembele on the right, and Martin Braithwaite could also start in attack in place of Antoine Griezmann.
Possible XI: Neto; Roberto, Araujo, Lenglet, Junior; Pjanic, Busquets, Puig; Trincao, Messi, Braithwaite.
