Messi one goal away from matching record for most La Liga goals from the bench
An amazing feat for a player who rarely does not start
Lionel Messi is only one goal away from matching the record for most goals scored by a substitute ever in La Liga, an amazing feat for a player who starts the vast majority of games he plays in.
The Argentine trails Julio Salinas by only one goal, 27 to 28, after he scored a blazing fast equalizer against Real Betis. He scored with a driven left-footed shot to the bottom right just two minutes after coming on, in FC Barcelona’s 3-2 win over Betis.
Salinas, who is best known for stints at Barcelona, Athletic Bilbao, and Atlético Madrid, was a Spanish international who started his career in the 80s and retired in 2000.

28 Julio Salinas
27 LIONEL MESSI

Me parece la repxxxx que también se vaya a quedar con este récord
“Seems f***ing insane to me that he will also take this record,” wrote MisterChip, whose real name is Alexis MartÃn-Tamayo.
Messi has three goals this season in two substitute appearances for Barcelona - interestingly, all against Betis.
