Pique aiming to be fit for UCL second leg vs PSG
The defender is on his way back from a knee injury
Gerard Pique was back in training at Barcelona this week and is reportedly aiming to be fit in time for his team’s Champions League second leg against Paris Saint-Germain.
The center-back has not featured since November because of a serious knee injury but is closing in on a return to first-team action after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Pique has been working out on the pitch and is feeling good but looks to have little chance of featuring in the first leg of the UCL tie at the Camp Nou on February 16, according to Sport,
Yet it seems likely that Pique might have returned to action before the second leg on March 10 in Paris and so could certainly feature at the Parc des Princes.
The report also reckons that Pique could line up against Ronald Araujo in the heart of the Barca defense in the French capital.
The Uruguay international has impressed this season when standing in for Pique, while Clement Lenglet has struggled to impress and Samuel Umtiti’s fitness remains a concern.
