The defender is out of contract in the summer

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has been talking about center-back Eric Garcia and says the center-back is off to Barcelona when his contract ends in the summer.

Garcia is expected to return to the Camp Nou on a free transfer, but it seems he will be missed by Guardiola who has been full of praise for the youngster.

“Eric Garcia is like a son. He was a guy last season that after lockdown was our best central defender. He never made a mistake and played in the quarter-final of the Champions League.

“He’s going to play in Barcelona and that is not an average player - he is a top player. He was not selected in the last two games and it broke my heart.

“That is why it is difficult for all the managers when you have a squad. You cannot imagine what it means.”

The 20-year-old hasn’t played much football for Manchester City this season. He’s only managed nine appearances in all competitions with the club well-stocked for center-backs.
