The striker will leave Manchester City this summer

Speculation Sergio Aguero could leave Manchester City and join Barcelona on a free transfer has been around for a while but has ramped up this week as the end of the European season approaches.

Mundo Deportivo report Barca have now given the move the “green light” and are ready to welcome the 32-year-old Argentine to the Camp Nou in the summer.

Aguero has already been described as being “crazy” to play for Barcelona and is willing to take a pay cut to seal the move. He currently earns €12m a year at Manchester City.

There’s a similar report on Thursday in Diario Sport which states that an agreement in principle has been reached and Aguero will sign a two-year deal with the Catalan giants.

Coach Ronald Koeman has apparently given the deal the OK as long as it means that a move for Memphis Depay is not ruled out at the same time.

ESPN also provide an update and reckon that Barca want Aguero and Depay. At least one of the forwards is expected to arrive in the summer which will also spell the end for Martin Braithwaite.

The report adds that Barca also want “another forward who can lead the attack in the long-term.” Erling Haaland is mentioned but a transfer is deemed “almost impossible,” while Gerard Moreno’s name is also mentioned.

However, Barca must also wait to see what Lionel Messi decides to do next before making any final decisions.
