This rumor has taken yet another twist

Barcelona seem keen to involve Antoine Griezmann in a swap deal this summer but it seems instead of Saul Niguez coming to the Camp Nou the Catalans would much rather if Joao Felix arrived instead.

Both Sport and Mundo Deportivo are reporting Barca would prefer Felix but also point out that it’s a very tricky deal to pull off for a number of reasons.

The first is that Felix earns more than Saul. So, bringing in the Portugal international in place of Griezmann won’t help reduce the club’s wage bill as much as they’d probably like.

It’s also a little difficult to see exactly where Felix would fit in at Barca. Ronald Koeman already has plenty of attacking options which means he wouldn’t be guaranteed a spot.

MD reckon that “there is no evidence” the two clubs have even spoken about the possibility of Felix being involved in the transfer despite Joan Laporta being a fan of the youngster.

Laporta is said to have a good relationship with Felix’s agent, Jorge Mendes, but even that may not be enough to seal a deal unless the forward takes a pay cut.

Felix is not the only player Barca have thought about. Defenders Mario Hermoso and Renan Lodi have also been mentioned as speculation about an Atletico return for Griezmann continues.
