The midfielder is off to Getafe

Carles Alena has sent a goodbye message to Barcelona and the club’s supporters after sealing a permanent move to Getafe.

The 23-year-old has agreed to join Getafe on a five-year deal and admits it’s not easy saying goodbye to the Catalan giants.

He wrote on Instagram, “16 years at @fcbarcelona ... it’s not easy to say goodbye to what has been my home. I have been a lucky one and I can only thank you all from the bottom of my heart! I’m speechless ... A culé for life. Always the best @fcbarcelona”

Alena is the latest player to depart and follows Konrad, Jean-Clair Todibo, Junior Firpo, Matheus Fernandes, and Francisco Trincao out of the exit door. More departures are expected as the overhaul continues and Barca try to cut the wage bill.

The midfielder’s transfer does include a buyback option and Barca have confirmed they also have the “first right of refusal on any offer.”
