The midfielder is holding out for a better contract

FC Barcelona are worried that Chelsea is the team that is making the process of renewing Ilaix Moriba’s contract so difficult, according to the latest rumors.

The Catalans are unwilling to meet Moriba’s demands for a big pay raise, both because they feel the player is not yet at the level to demand such a wage and because the team does not have space to register big contracts under the salary cap.

They sense that Moriba is being so stringent because there is another club whispering in his ear, promising they can offer him his dream wage either in this transfer window or next year when his contract expires.

Barcelona have been firm, telling Moriba they will offer him higher wages with the possibility of increasing them again soon if he continues to grow as a player, but that they will not acquiesce to his demands.

If Moriba does not accept the renewal offer, he will be given two choices: either find a new team this summer or he will not play with the first team at all with Barcelona.

Chelsea have been interested in Moriba in the past and are said to be willing to double or even triple his current salary.
