‘I’m here to enjoy football again’ - Ansu Fati reacts to Monaco move

The winger has joined on loan
Ansu Fati has spoken for the first time since joining AS Monaco on a season-long loan from Barcelona, and wants to “enjoy football again” in his new home.
The 22-year-old winger took part in his first training session with his new team on Thursday and then spoke to the press for the first time as a Monaco player, and explained the decision to leave Barça and try to “find consistency” with his new club.
“I’m signing with Monaco to enjoy football again, I didn’t have that chance anymore. I want to contribute and I hope to achieve great things.
“I’ll always be grateful to Barça. I sincerely believe that changes are for the better. Of course, I’ll be here this season, but I’ll always be grateful to Barça.
“I had my experience at Brighton: many think it was bad, but it was a great experience. I started well, then I got injured and lacked consistency. Hopefully things will be different here, and I can have continuity and be involved a lot if the manager sees fit.”
Monaco have a strong track record of developing young forwards, and if Ansu can stay healthy and play a consistent run of games there is a good chance he could have a strong enough season to raise his value and continue his career either at Monaco in a permanent move or elsewhere if another big European club wants to bet on his potential after a strong season in France.
Good luck at Monaco, Ansu!
