The news means that Hermoso will miss the upcoming Women’s International Champions Cup and the start of the new league season. The WICC will be held from 18-31 August in Portland in the United States. The tournament sees European sides Barcelona and Lyon come up against the Portland Thorns and the Houston Dash for the WICC title.
Barca then head back to Europe for a final pre-season friendly against Rosenborg in Trondheim, Norway on 28 August. The season is due to start on the weekend of the 4/5 September.
Hermoso’s injury comes just days after she was named the MVP in Barca’s 6-0 thrashing of Juventus in the Joan Gamper Trophy. The forward scored twice in yet another big win for Barca Femeni.
Get well soon Jenni Hermoso!
