Barca confirm Braithwaite will undergo knee surgery
The striker is expected to miss the rest of 2022
Barcelona confirmed on Monday that striker Martin Braithwaite will need to undergo knee surgery and is set to go under the knife “in the coming days.”
The Denmark international seems to have picked up the problem in the win over Getafe last time out and the injury has not responded to treatment.
Here’s Barca’s official statement:
“The first team player Martin Braithwaite has a femoropatellar injury in his left knee which has not responded to conservative treatment. The Danish striker will undergo surgery in the coming days. The Club will publish a new injury update when the process has taken place.”

Reports over the weekend have suggested that Braithwaite could miss the next 3-4 months of action, although Barca will offer an update once his surgery has been completed.
The injury comes at a bad time for Barca who are also without Ansu Fati, Ousmane Dembele, and Sergio Aguero currently due to injury.
Braithwaite’s injury means Ronald Koeman is pretty short of attacking options at the moment but does have Memphis Depay in red-hot form and new signing Luuk de Jong available.
