Barcelona confirm injuries to Pedri and Jordi Alba
More problems for Ronald Koeman’s men
Barcelona have confirmed that Pedri and Jordi Alba both suffered injuries against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Pedri played the whole 90 minutes but is now set for a spell out with a thigh injury, while Alba went off late on with a hamstring problem.
Here are the official updates from the club.
“The first team player Pedri has a quadriceps muscle injury in his left thigh. The player is unavailable for selection and his recovery will dictate his return.
“Tests carried out on Wednesday morning on Jordi Alba have revealed that he has inured the biceps femoris muscle in his right hamstring. As a result, the player is unavailable for selection until he has recovered.”
Initial reports suggest Alba will be out for a month and won’t be back until after the next international break in October. Pedri will be back before then will sit out some La Liga games.
The teenager is expected to be out for “2-3 weeks” but could make it back for the trip to Atletico Madrid on October 2, according to Diario AS.
The injuries add to Koeman’s problems after the Bayern defeat and ahead of a busy run with Granada, Cadiz, and Levante all up in the space of seven days next week.
