Braithwaite out for 3-4 months with knee injury - report
There are fears the striker has suffered a serious injury
Barcelona have been hit with yet another injury blow with reports claiming Martin Braithwaite is set for a lengthy spell out because of a knee injury.
The Catalan giants are already without Ansu Fati, Sergio Aguero, and Ousmane Dembele and it now seems that Braithwaite can be added to the list.
According to Sport, it’s thought Braithwaite could miss the next 3-4 months and may even end up undergoing surgery. A decision on his treatment will be made on Monday.
Barcelona confirmed after the 2-1 win over Getafe that Braithwaite had asked to be taken off due to an issue with his knee.
The striker had been called up by Denmark for World Cup qualifiers over the international break but didn’t feature in any of the games.
It’s being reported that the striker did train with Barcelona on Sunday but couldn’t finish the session because of “severe pain” in his knee.
If it is confirmed that Braithwaite is out for the rest of the year it leaves Ronald Koeman seriously short of attacking options. The club’s only fit forwards currently are Memphis, Luuk de Jong, Philippe Coutinho, and Yusuf Demir.
Ansu Fati is back in training but there’s no return date yet, while Aguero and Dembele are not due back until the end of October/early November.
