‘Ousmane is very good, he feels loved and we want him to stay’

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has offered an update on Ousmane Dembele who is out of contract at the end of the season.

The 58-year-old says a meeting has been scheduled with Dembele’s agent to discuss an extension and seemed optimistic the Frenchman will sign on.

“Mateu (Alemany) has told me that he’s organising a meeting with his agent. The relationship with Ousmane is very good, he feels loved and we want him to stay.

“He’s told me that he’s really looking forward to playing again and wearing Barcelona’s shirt. With everyone’s work, we’ll get this player, who has a lot of quality, back playing and playing consistently.

“Hopefully the bad moments won’t be back. There’s a plan at the club for Ousmane to show his talent and quality.”

It’s been reported that Dembele will be offered a new contract that runs until 2025, and he’s one of four key players Barca want to renew along with Pedri, Ansu Fati, and Ronald Araujo.

Dembele is currently recovering from knee surgery, having picked up an injury at Euro 2020 playing for France, and is expected back in action in early November.
