Pep tells Man City not to enter Ansu Fati bidding - report
Agent Jorge Mendes is playing games, apparently
In what is certainly one of the more strange stories we’ve covered this week, Pep Guardiola has reportedly asked Manchester City not to enter any semblance of talks with Jorge Mendes about Ansu Fati. The “talks” if you call them that, haven’t even truly began and seem to only be a bargaining chip on the part of Mendes.
Fati hasn’t played a game in almost a year and before he truly returns from injury Mendes wants his client on a new deal. One could hardly blame Fati for wanting a bit more money in this situation. However, it seems like in order to spice things up in the contract talks, Mendes has begun offering Fati to other clubs.
Which leads us back to City. Pep is apparently asking City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain to not enter into the talks so that he doesn’t help to harm Barca. If true, nice of old Pep to give it a shot. However, if City wants him, I doubt Begiristain is going to care about Laporta’s feelings.
