‘Super happy’ Pena speaks out after impressing for Barca
Good stuff from the goalkeeper
Inaki Pena admitted he loved hearing fans chanting his name after featuring for Barcelona against Porto in the Champions League.
The back-up stopper was in goal again, due to Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s injury, and put in an impressive showing between the sticks for Barcelona.
Here’s what he had to say after the game:
“We knew that this was a must win night, which could mark a big turning point in our season and achieving qualification is big after two tough years not having done so,” he said.
“I thought we dominated the last 15 minutes of the first half and all of the second half. Hearing the fans chanting my name was remarkable - I thank them, but the support got right behind the whole team.
“The coach gave us a good game-plan, focusing on where he thought their weak and strong points were. We were told to press them high, stop them playing out and we gave a really firm performance. We are super happy to be successful and to be through.”

It remains to be seen when we’ll see Pena again in the first team. Ter Stegen could return against Atletico which would mean the youngster returning to the bench.
