Araujo responds to rumors Bayern ready to pay ‘massive fee’ for Barca defender
The rumor mill is hotting up
Ronald Araujo’s entourage have responded to rumors that Bayern Munich are reportedly reportedly to pay a “massive fee” for the defender and have made him a top transfer target.
Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg says that Thomas Tuchel “wants him urgently” and claims there was a phone call between Bayern chiefs and Araujo on Friday.
Bayern are said to be ready to pay a “massive transfer fee” to land Araujo either in January or next summer.

Yet that report has been swiftly shot down. Gerard Romero says Araujo’s entourage have denied there was a phone call between the Uruguayan and Bayern. Relevo’s Matteo Moretto also thinks it’s nonsense, writing on X: “Ronald Araújo only thinks about Barça. There’s no more.”
Yet rumors that Bayern are keen on Araujo have been floating around for a while and it certainly seems that he’s emerged as a target for the Bavarians.
However, Araujo has always made it clear he’s happy at Camp Nou and said this week “it’s so special to be at Barca and have the chance to be captain” after wearing the armband against Porto.
There have been reports that Barcelona need to make a big sale soon to ease their financial problems, but it still seems highly unlikely they’d want to part ways with such a crucial player.
Barca are also thought to be considering extending his contract. Araujo’s current deal runs until 2026 and contains a release clause set at 1 billion euros.
