Time to set the record straight
Frenkie de Jong’s agent has hit back at news the Dutchman has been involved in a row with Deco after missing the trip to Antwerp.
The midfielder was not part of the squad for the Champions League game, with Barca reporting he was out with a fever.
Some spurious reports have since claimed Deco has been on the phone to De Jong to accuse him of faking an illness.
De Jong’s agent, Ali Dursun, has now set the record straight.
“Total fake news. It is the biggest nonsense that has been released around Frenkie in a long time. The player is just sick. He has symptoms of fever and has been unable to travel and play.
“This boy is a professional through and through. Just a model professional. Just don’t touch Frenkie’s reputation, because he always delivers. There was no shouting over the phone as claimed, no question marks. Things are being created now in a false way. The relationship with Deco is simply good and stable.”

Barcelona’s poor form has seen all sorts of reports pop up right now as the team and manager come under pressure. Ferran Torres has already hit out at the situation, claiming critics are “out to destroy Barca.”
A win over Valencia at the weekend would do a lot to quieten the rumor mill right now.
