Deco wants to change release clauses for La Masia stars
The club want more protection
Barcelona sporting director Deco wants to make changes to the release clauses of the club’s La Masia stars to avoid losing them on the cheap.
The decision comes amid mounting speculation that teenager Marc Guiu is set to move to Chelsea, with the Blues set to active his €6 million release clause.
Marca are reporting that Deco now wants changes because he’s also had to work quickly to hand new contracts to Pau CubarsÃ, Héctor Fort and FermÃn Lopez who also had minimal release clauses.
Deco’s plan is to change this by raising the clauses or introducing variables, so that they increase in value if a player makes a certain number of appearances for the first team.
The ultimate aim is to offer Barcelona more protection when it comes to the talented young players in the academy and avoid losing them for cut-price fees.
