Barça preparing new contract for Bernal after injury
The club want to show their support with a new deal
Barcelona are reportedly preparing a new contract for midfielder Marc Bernal after the youngster was diagnosed with a season-ending knee injury on Wednesday.
That’s according to Toni Juanmartí of Diario SPORT, who reports the club want to extend Bernal’s deal — which was recently renewed through 2026 — until 2029 to show their support and confidence in the player.

The Blaugrana consider Bernal a crucial piece of the club’s future, and the report says they will sit down with the player’s agents in the next few weeks to discuss the framework of a new deal that would kick in once Bernal turns 18 years old next summer.
Barça tried to secure a season-long loan deal with Liverpool for Stefan Bajcetic on Wednesday to replace Bernal for the 2024-25 campaign, but lost the race to RB Salzburg and will have very little depth in the position until Frenkie de Jong and Gavi return from their injuries later this fall.
