The defender could be moving to the capital

Barcelona are in talks with Atletico Madrid for defender Clement Lenglet as they aim to offload the Frenchman before the close of the transfer window.

Lenglet is back at Barcelona after a season on loan in the Premier League with Aston Villa but is not wanted by the Catalan giants.

Relevo’s Matteo Moretto is reporting that Atletico currently look the favourites for his signature, after Villarreal dropped out of the race, and are continuing negotiations with Barcelona.

Lenglet is seen as the “easiest option” for Atletico, who want a left-footed center-back, but there are still issues to iron out regarding his salary.

Atletico may also need to offload Joao Felix before bringing in any other players. They’ve already signed Julian Alvarez but have seen a deal for Conor Gallagher stall.

Barcelona are still looking to offload players in a bid to boost their financial situation and help register players.

Vitor Roque and Ansu Fati are also being linked with summer departures, while Mikayil Faye is another player who could be sold if an attractive offer arrives.
