The youngster has been registered for the new season

Barcelona have registered Pau Cubarsi for the new season and have handed the youngster a new squad number for the campaign.

Cubarsi enjoyed a stellar breakthrough season last year, becoming a regular in the team and forcing his way into the international set-up.

He’ll hope to continue in the first team under new manager Hansi Flick and will be wearing the No. 2 shirt for the coming season.

Cubarsi takes the number from Joao Cancelo who wore 2 last season during his loan spell from Manchester City.

Cancelo has been hoping to stay on with Barcelona but there’s been no word on his future for some time now.

Manchester City are thought to be keen to sell him permanently, but Barcelona simply can’t afford such a deal as things stand.

Meanwhile, Cubarsi could feature at the weekend against Valencia. The defender returned to training at the start of the week after winning gold at the Paris Olympics with Spain.
