The defender has admirers

Turkish side Besiktas have reportedly joined Inter in the race to land Barcelona defender Mikayil Faye before the close of the window.

Reports in Italy have claimed Inter want a new young defender and are looking at going for either Faye or Tomas Palacios.

However, Diario Sport claim that Besiktas have now made a €10 million offer for Faye and he’s wanted at the club by coach Giovani Van Bronckhorst.

The Turkish side are also willing to include a buy-back clause which may tempt Barca. The Catalans are said to want €15m for Faye but may struggle to net that amount.

Faye’s continuity at Barcelona has been the subject of speculation all summer and there’s no guarantee he will stay on.

There’s a chance he could be given a chance to impress Hansi Flick in the first team, but if any decent offers arrive then Barcelona are likely to accept.

Faye may find it difficult for minutes if he does stay. Eric Garcia is set to be part of the squad after returning from a loan, while Inigo Martinez should also continue for a second season.

Flick also has Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, Pau Cubarsi and Ronald Araujo (when he’s back to full fitness) available as his centre-back options.
