The saga continues

Barcelona’s new kit deal with Nike has long been talked about and remains unsigned despite Joan Laporta’s claims that it could have been done over the summer.

The latest update comes from Marca and a report that states the two parties “will close the agreement” in the next few days.

The report also states, a little confusingly, that a deadline has been set for the end of the month for another “final agreement.” Either way the gist is that hopefully this will all finally be done soon.

Perhaps more interestingly, Marca reckon Nike “will pay 140 million euros per season” to sponsor Barcelona’s shirts for the next 10 years.

However, there’s also the small matter of the signing bonus that needs working out. It’s suggested Nike could pay out an initial €150m as a bonus and then pay Barca €125m each season instead.

It seems that these are some of the final details that need to be resolved before both sides put pen to paper.
