The club want to talk about an extension

Bayern Munich have admitted they are in a hurry to secure Joshua Kimmich’s future amid continued speculation about whether he will stay at the club or move on.

Kimmich is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with several clubs, including Barcelona where he would be reunited with Hansi Flick.

Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has now told Abendzeitung that the club are eager to start talking to Kimmich about a new deal.

“Joshua certainly didn’t have it easy during the Corona period. On the other hand, Joshua, who has a high level of sporting ambition, knows which club he is in and what goals he can achieve here together with us,” he said.

“He feels at home in Munich and is a very important player in this team. He shows his class not only with us, but also in the national team. We have already said publicly that we want to start talks with him about a contract extension quickly. I would like him to continue to be one of the cornerstones of the team.”

The latest update on Kimmich’s future has come from reporter Florian Plettenberg who has claimed the Germany star is thinking about a move to La Liga or the Premier League if he doesn’t agree a new deal.

Kimmich has refused to rule out a move to Barcelona this season. He spoke about the club in October ahead of the clash between the two sides in the Champions League.
