‘Captain without an armband’ - Fermin hails Barca team-mate
Some huge praise from the youngster
Fermin Lopez has hailed Barcelona team-mate Inigo Martinez and his leadship skills after the team’s great start to the season.
Martinez has been a regular in the heart of the backline this season and formed a brilliant partnership with Pau Cubarsi.
Fermin told Gerard Romero that Inigo is “the captain without a Barça armband” at the club, with the 33-year-old’s experience and leadership impressing the youngster.
Lopez also went on to talk about his team’s great start and their famous offside trap which has also been making headlines.
“The offside thing? We train a lot. The back four is incredible. It is risky but it is very well worked on,” he added.
“Some people thought we wouldn’t be up to par against the big teams. We struggled against Bayern, but they are a very good team. Saturday (at the Bernabéu) really got me a little more excited.”
Barcelona will aim to back up a brilliant week when they return to action on Sunday against local rivals Espanyol.
