More upheaval on the cards?

Barcelona are reportedly looking at alternative options for Champions League matches as they may be forced to move out of Montjuic for European fixtures in the knockout phase of the tournament.

Hansi Flick’s side are in good shape to progress currently, with the next phase of Europe’s top club competition due to start in March 2025.

It’s thought that the Camp Nou may not be ready by then, meaning Barca can’t come back home as all home fixtures have to be played in the same venue for the rest of the campaign.

Yet Montjuic may also be a problem as the Barcelona City Council have commitments later in the year which mean the stadium will not be available to the Catalan giants, according to Marca.

Barcelona are now looking at other options but there are few available in Catalunya that are large enough to host a Champions League game.

Espanyol’s ground, Atletico Madrid’s Metropolitano and Valencia’s Mestalla are therefore thought to be under consideration by the Barca board.
