Barca lose Martinez to injury against Real Madrid
The defender went off in the first half
Barcelona suffered an injury blow on Sunday during the Spanish Super Cup final as Inigo Martinez was forced off with a problem in the first half.
The center-back appeared to pick up a muscle problem and was promptly replaced by Ronald Araujo.
It’s a really interesting situation as Martinez has been first choice this season alongside Pau Cubarsi, while Araujo has been linked with an exit.
Rumours ahead of the game even claimed that Araujo has made his mind up he wants to move in January with Juventus keen to sign him.
Barcelona don’t particularly want Araujo to leave but are thought to be willing to sanction a sale if he brings a reasonable offer.
Yet that could all change if Martinez is sidelined for a lengthy period of time. It didn’t appear to be a serious injury for the veteran but we’ll have to wait and see what Barca say.
