Deco claims Barca return for Neymar was a ‘remote possibility’
Really?
Barcelona sporting director Deco has claimed there was a “remote possibility” of Neymar making a sensational return to the club.
The Brazilian’s future is in doubt once again amid a potential January exit from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
Neymar has been linked with a move back to Barcelona regularly over the years, and Deco says it was always unlikely due to the finances such a transfer would have involved.
“Neymar’s return to Barça was a remote possibility. Since he moved to Saudi Arabia, we knew he was a very expensive player, especially in terms of financial fair play,” he said via Sport.
“At his best, Neymar is one of the best players in the world. He still is and always will be. He is welcome at any club in the world.
“A deal with him can never be ruled out, but right now I see him returning to Brazil. The most important thing is for Neymar to play football again. That will bring joy to himself and others. Honestly, I don’t know what he will do, but the most important thing is for him to be happy.”
Neymar is being tipped to move back to Santos this winter. The Brazilian has managed just seven appearances for Al-Hilal since signing from PSG in a mega-deal in 2023.
