‘It’s not difficult’ - Flick sends strong message to Kounde
The defender was late again
Hansi Flick spoke out about his decision to drop Jules Kounde for Monday’s win over Rayo Vallecano after the Frenchman was late for another meeting.
Kounde has already been sanctioned by Flick this season for being late and was benched again, with Hector Fort taking his place against Rayo.
The Barcelona boss was asked about the incident afterwards and explained the situation.
“Before the match, we have maybe two or three appointments for the players, meetings,” he told reporters.
“And it is very important the players are there. It’s not very difficult to do this. It’s not only about me, it’s about [respect] for the players, the club, the fans.
“I don’t want to say more because I want to speak with him. But he was too late. It’s a clear rule, so he cannot start. This is what happened today.”
Kounde did come on in the second half as Barca won 1-0 to go top of the table but he can’t be in any doubt now that his time-keeping needs to improve.
