Barca have the wind at their backs as the season reaches its climax

The Blaugrana continue to embrace the role of protagonist in their comeback story
Barcelona’s storybook season continues, and it’s an epic they’re writing all on their own.
They’ve discovered that they don’t need to make excuses for the array of cliché footballing challenges thrown their way. Be it injuries, referees, or crowded calendars.
Coming out of the international break (or lack thereof considering how the Osasuna fixture was foisted upon them), Barcelona was once again forced to sink or swim.

This time, we learned something about Hansi Flick’s team that should scare the rest of Europe. Barcelona’s success doesn’t depend on the players on the field. The mentality and tactics are so ingrained in the fabric of the team that anyone seems able to step in and step up to get the job done.
Not only is this team getting wins, they’re dominating opponents, and making the game of football look beautiful again.
This really is the next generation of FC Barcelona’s storied history. The newest manifestation of the type of football that Johan Cruyff dreamed of.
You want the ball. You demand the ball. You win because you are the protagonist of the game. No pragmatism to be found, because it’s not needed.

Even when they pulled ahead of Girona, making it 2-1 in the 61st minute, they kept pushing for more goals.
Currently, they have 82 goals on the season through 29 games, with a massive goal differential of 54. Last season, they scored 79, while the season before that, when they won La Liga under Xavi, they managed only 70.
Barcelona is an attacking powerhouse again, and that’s why it looks so much like they are finally back. Not because they are in a position to win trophies, although they certainty are, but because they’re bringing total football back to the world.

This is not a rigid tactical system. The players are fully free and autonomous. They can go where they want, when they want, regardless of position.
What’s expected are certain principles that are non-negotiable.
And that starts with the pressing system. That everyone fights to win the ball, with the objective how capturing possession in positions that leads to quick and direct attacks on goal.
There is a tempo and a rhythm to this team that we frankly haven’t seen since the days of Messi, Suarez, and Neymar. And we should remember that that was also the last time Barcelona won a treble.

Now, the schedule really heats up, and yet you sense that there is no fear in these players. They want it all.
Against Girona, I have to say, the attitude of Fermín López said everything. This is once again a player who has patiently waited for his chance. With Dani Olmo going out, and other teammates needing rest, he came out of the gates with fireworks in his boots.
It’s not about the goal you score, but the example you set for your teammates. Fermín was the workhorse. He was aggressive and determined to create danger throughout.
Then, in the second half, it was Ferran Torres coming in off the bench, and bagging the fourth to put away the game. This shows no matter what role you’re given in the game, big or small, when you’re on the field, you keep the intensity high, and you stay hungry.

From the first minute to the last, Barcelona in 2025 are consistently excellent, and as a result, they remain undefeated.
Next up, the Blaugrana head back to the lion’s den of the Metropolitano, as they face off with an Atletico Madrid team that is wounded and dangerous. This Copa del Rey semi-final will be their last chance to salvage their season with a chance to earn a trophy.
Meanwhile, Barcelona remain calm and confident.

They know who they are, they’re playing their game, and they are ruthless.
Pressure is on Atleti.
Barcelona are a team on a mission. They are on a quest for greatness, and they’re not slowing down now.
