Barcelona moved into the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday by beating Benfica to set up a clash with Borussia Dortmund.

Bitter rivals Real Madrid are also in the last eight after beating Atletico in a shootout that saw Julian Alvarez have a penalty controversially ruled out for a double touch.

The two La Liga giants are on opposite sides of the draw and so can only meet in the final, and Pau Cubarsi shared his thoughts on the prospect of facing Los Blancos in May.

“Little by little, but it would be a good final,” he told reporters.

“It’s the most important part of the season, where you have to be focused on every game. This is when titles are decided.”

Cubarsi has enjoyed a stellar campaign despite only turning 18 in January. He’s a key player for club and country and admits it’s all been a whirlwind.

“It’s been a very hectic year; everything has happened so fast,” he added.

“We’re assimilating everything we’re experiencing, both at home and with friends, and I’m very happy that after all the effort I’ve put in, it’s been rewarded in this way, which is the best.”

Barcelona and Cubarsi have another huge game at the weekend. Hansi Flick’s side take on Atletico in La Liga and can move four points clear of Diego Simeone’s side with a win.
