Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is reportedly closing in on completing a one-year loan move to Eredivisie side Ajax.

According to Diario AS, the German “will” play for the Dutch side next season and he is “on the verge” of joining Michel’s side.

The new Ajax boss is said to have been key to the deal and wanted to be reunited with Ter Stegen after working briefly with the goalkeeper last season.

Ter Stegen joined Girona on loan in the winter window but barely played for the club after sustaining a serious hamstring injury that required surgery and kept him sidelined for the rest of the campaign.

He remains contracted to Barcelona until 2028 but looks set to spend next season away from Catalunya.

The news means that the goalkeeping situation at Barcelona is starting to clear up. The club have already waved goodbye to Inaki Pena, while Diego Kochen is expected to sign for Danish side Lyngby on loan.
