Bayern Munich are being credited with interest in Barcelona defender Jules Kounde but can’t move for the Frenchman unless they make room in the squad.

German reporter Christian Falk has offered an update on the situation on his blog and says it is true the Bundesliga giants have been tracking Kounde for some time.

“They like the player and have followed his progress, but there is no option at the moment to buy him right now, as they have to sell players. As I’ve mentioned previously, Sacha Boey is still on the list,” he added.

“They have too many players available in this position; Konrad Laimer can play it, as can Josip StaniÅ¡ić. So, if FC Bayern can sell Boey, perhaps they can make a move for Koundé. But, at the moment, there is no opportunity to do so. Givairo Read is obviously another name the club has looked at for the right-back position. But if they can’t sell anyone here, it’s getting difficult.”

Barcelona are believed to be open to offers this summer for Kounde who is no longer considered to be untouchable at Camp Nou.

However, Kounde has hinted he is not interested in a move. When quizzed on his future a World Cup 2026, the defender pointed out he has a contract with the club until 2030 and hopes to stay with the Catalans.
