Camp Nou changing turfs for La Liga debut at the stadium
One of the most beautiful things about the Camp Nou stadium it's actually the pitch. It's always in the best conditions, especially because Barcelona plays a style that requires the turf to be perfect. It will get even more perfect.
After the Spanish Supercup second leg against Athletic Bilbao, the stadium crew began the operations to change the whole turf. The first part of the work, which started on Tuesday, included removing the posts and flags, then cleaning the sprinklers and taking off the actual pitch.
Here's a few more details from Barça's website:
The new pitch consists of some 8,500m² of turf which will arrive on Wednesday, and the following day the laying of the new playing surface will begin.
The pitch is being replaced after two seasons after extensive monitoring by the Club’s Department of Operations. Last season was an exceptionally long campaign and this summer, in particular the months of May and June saw unusually high temperatures, two factors that caused problems for the playing surface.
According to the club, the new turf will be ready to go for the first La Liga game at Camp Nou, which will be played on Saturday, August 29th, against Málaga.
If this playing surface has problems, I want to see what a good one would look like.
