Ter Stegen: "I want to start in the league but that's a decision for the coach"

When German phenom Marc-André ter Stegen joined Barcelona last season and was used only in Cup matches, many thought it would be just a matter of time before he became the undisputed starter on all games over League keeper Claudio Bravo. But that's not the case.

The Chilean GK had a Zamora Trophy season with 37 great performances, and after winning the Copa América and doing a great job in his first official game of the new campaign with the Blaugrana, Bravo made the case to continue to start every league game, which means Stegen still needs to wait some more time.

But the 23-year-old is willing to wait and keep working hard to change Luis Enrique's mind.

"To play in the league would be very nice but I don't know if I will. That is a decision for the coach, at the moment it is my job to train and work hard."

His recent performances have not helped his case. He conceded eight goals in two official games between the posts, and while not all of those were his fault, he did seem very unsettled and uncomfortable against Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao, and Bravo just looks more mature at his point. Hopefully Stegen learns from his mistakes and finally becomes the keeper we all know he can be.
