Barcelona midfielder Rafinha Alcântara leaves game against Roma with injury
Terrible news for Barcelona in the team's Champions League debut against AS Roma, as Brazilian midfielder Rafinha Alcântara was forced to leave the game with what appears to be a right ankle injury.
Just two minutes after entering the field in the second half in place of Ivan Rakitic, the Blaugrana youngster carried the ball and suffered a hard challenge by Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan. Rafinha fell on the pitch in a lot of pain, and after a quick examination, the team doctors instantly asked coach Luis Enrique for a substitute substitution, and Rafa was carried off the field as Javier Mascherano replaced him.
It's a terrible timing for another injury, as Barça already have Claudio Bravo, Dani Alves, Douglas Pereira and Thomas Vermaelen on the medical department for an extended period of time. Rafinha was also enjoying the best form of his Blaugrana career, establishing himself as a key component of the team's system.
We'll give you updates as more information become available.
