FC Barcelona depart for Rome, Italy
Team catches morning flight to Italian capital where they'll open play Wednesday in Group E of the UEFA Champions League
FC Barcelona have departed from the Catalan capital and are en route to Rome, Italy where they'll make their debut against AS Roma in the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League. Their title defence begins on Wednesday, 16 September at 8.45pm at the Stadio Olimpico.
The team's charter flight to Rome took off at 10.35am. The passengers included the coaching staff and twenty-man squad, as well as club vice-presidents Jordi Cardoner and Jordi Mestre, and board members Jordi Moix, Javier Bordas and Silvio ElÃas. FC Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu and vice-president Manel Arroyo will join the team on game day.
The day before
Following the one hour and forty-five minute flight, the Barça players will be taken to their hotel.
In the afternoon, after a few hours rest, the players and coaches will head to the Stadio Olimpico on the banks of the Tiber River where Jordi Alba and Luis Enrique will appear at a 6.00pm CET press conference. At 7.00pm the team will hold a one-hour training session, their last before Wednesday’s game.
