José Arnaiz’s Development Could Mean a Transfer Exit for Gerard Deulofeu and Aleix Vidal

A goal against a La Liga team is Arnaiz’s latest feat

José Arnaiz got his third goal for FC Barcelona today with an important strike against Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey. This was Arnaiz’s first against La Liga opposition, and though his chances have been limited, his stock is growing.

The Barcelona B forward has netted six times for the B team and put in confident displays playing in the second division. At just 22, he still has time to develop further. Arnaiz is making a name for himself after he was signed this season having just completed a standout year with Real Valladolid.

His development could spell an exit for either Gerard Deulofeu, Aleix Vidal, or both. The two are linked with exits, particularly to Italian clubs such as AS Roma and Inter Milan.

With Ousmane Dembélé returning from injury, the amount of minutes available for a fast right winger will also go down. This only reinforces the idea that one of the pair could be sold.

Currently, Vidal seems to be slightly ahead in the pecking order, though Deulofeu was injured at the end of last year. We shall see whether Arnaiz’s development convinces the management to sell one of the more established players.
