Ivan Rakitić Might Get a Pay-raise Amid PSG Rumors
Sources differ on whether he will or won’t get more money
Ivan Rakitić reportedly is being tempted by a mega-offer from Paris Saint-Germain, but most sources say he is likely to stay. PSG can certainly pay his 125 million release clause, so it’s all up to the player himself, but the rumors say the Croatian won’t leave Barcelona.
We are getting conflicting information about whether Barça will give him more money to stay at the club. Diario MARCA says that “the transfer won’t be possible, unless there is an unexpected turn at the last moment” because Barcelona are willing to renew Rakitić’s contract, which expires in 2021.
MARCA says Barcelona will improve his contract, as they want to retain him and see no other option. The contract has not been signed yet, but they say there is a verbal agreement. And the report also says Rakitić’s priority is to stay at Barcelona despite the huge offer from France.
Meanwhile, RAC1 says that “high level sources at the club say they have not offered any contract improvements.” The radio station reported that Barça do want to keep Rakitić, but it’s entirely up to the player whether he leaves or stays.
Would you improve Rakitić’s contract to assure he stays or would you tell him his contract is good enough, and it’s up to him whether he wants to stay or go?
