Suarez on Liverpool: ‘Once we’re playing there’ll be no friendship’
The striker faces his former team in the Champions League
There’s plenty of history between Barcelona and Liverpool in the locker-rooms. With both Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez being former Liverpool players, the Reds have a close understanding of how two of Barcelona’s key players like to play.
Heading into the Liverpool matchup in the Champions League semi-finals, there’s certainly talk of how Suarez’s former team will play the striker given their history. Suarez realizes there’s plenty of history, but once on the pitch, there are no friendships.
“I’m so grateful but I’m there to play for Barcelona, knowing what our targets are. Once we’re playing there’ll be no friendship, no mates, none of those lovely memories. That’s the way I am as a player, everyone knows.”
