Barcelona request move to league match to avoide coinciding with Women’s Champions League Final
The men’s team has a game 30 minutes after the women’s team plays the final
FC Barcelona have made a request to La Liga to move their game between the men’s team and Eibar, as it will coincide with the women’s team playing the UEFA Champions League Final, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Barcelona’s men’s team has already sewn up La Liga, so the match on the last day will be a dead rubber for them. That game will start at 5:30 p.m. local time, just 30 minutes after the women’s team plays their final in Budapest against Olympique Lyonnais.
For the moment, the matches of the last round are all set to be played at the same time, but apparently, the league is willing to move games provided matches played at different times do not affect the others in terms of league position. Barcelona’s position will not change no matter what, but Eibar’s could.
Barça’s women team are in the Champions League final for the first time in history, and the club has sought to promote them more than ever. Playing their biggest game in their history at the same time as a men’s league match could provide a time conflict for fans.
