Raiola talks De Ligt to PSG rumors

The super agent has had his say

Matthijs de Ligt’s agent, Mino Raiola, has branded rumors he was in France to close a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for the Ajax defender as “fake news.”

Wednesday saw reports from across Europe that PSG were close to a deal for De Ligt, with PSG said to have offered the 19-year-old a five-year deal.

Lassana Camara, a Mauritanian journalist, tweeted a picture of himself with Raiola accompanied by text that said: “Mino Raiola is in Paris to finalize the transfer of the young defender from Ajax, De Ligt, to PSG.”

However, Raiola is not having any of it. Here’s what he has had to say:

“This is the classic example of fake news,” he said.

“The photograph of me and the French journalist in Paris? He asked me to take a picture together, but I did not know who this gentleman was. ‘I have never spoken with him.”

Raiola has had a has had a three-month worldwide ban overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport after an appeal, meaning he is free to continue working outside of Italy while his appeal is being processed.

Meanwhile, De Ligt has suggested he will make a decision on his future after taking a holiday after helping Netherlands finish as runners-up in the inaugural Nations League.
