Barça, Betis agree Firpo deal
It looks like Barça will get their man
Barcelona and Real Betis have agreed a deal for left-back Junior Firpo, according to Seville-based radio Onda Cero as reported by Mundo Deportivo. The two clubs have reached an agreement on a 25 million euro transfer, with no variables or performance bonuses. Junior Firpo reportedly has a personal deal with Barça and is set to sign a five-year contract.
The deal progressed quickly on Wednesday after a few weeks of slow negotiations, as Ernesto Valverde was keen on having Firpo with the squad for next week’s trip to the United States. Junior is now expected to be on that plane and to play the friendlies against Napoli in Miami and Detroit.
If the deal is indeed done over the next few hours, Valverde will finally have the proper eight-man defense he wanted, with Nélson Semedo and the newly-promoted Moussa Wagué at right-back, Gerard Piqué, Jean-Clair Todibo, Samuel Umtiti and Clément Lenglet in the middle, and new boy Junior Firpo alongside Jordi Alba at left-back.
It’s a strong backline with real competition for places, and Barça are about to get a future star in Firpo who could already make a splash in his debut season.
ANNOUNCE FIRPO!!!
