Barcelona internationals round-up: Griezmann, Lenglet & Semedo latest
A trio of Barcelona stars were in action on Monday
Monday saw three more Barcelona stars in international action with Antoine Griezmann, Clement Lenglet and Nelson Semedo all in Euro 2020 qualifying action.
Griezmann and Lenglet both started France’s crucial game with Turkey in Paris that ended in a 1-1 draw that keeps the two teams locked on 19 points at the top of Group H.
The world champions looked to have nicked the victory when substitute Olivier Giroud headed home the opening goal with 15 minutes to go.
However, Turkey hit back five minutes later from a set-piece, and their only shot on target throughout the 90 minutes. Hakan Calhanoglu teed up Kaan Ayhan to head home the equaliser.
Griezmann picked an assist for the goal and also went close with an curling effort that flew just wide in a bright showing. Both the forward and Lenglet played all 90 minutes but came through the game unscathed and will now head back to Barcelona.
Semedo will also return to his club after playing all 90 minutes of Portugal’s 2-1 defeat to Ukraine.
The result means Ukraine qualify as group winners, while the reigning European champions still have work to do to qualify.
Goals from Roman Yaremchuk and Andriy Yarmolenko put Ukraine into a deserved 2-0 lead, although Portugal hit back through a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty - his 700th career goal.
Portugal pressed hard in the closing stages for an equaliser but it didn’t come and they are now just a point ahead of Serbia with two qualifiers left to play.
